Vanessa has practised exclusively in employment law since her admission as a solicitor in 2022 and holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Business (Accounting). Vanessa has since built a strong practice focused on providing pragmatic and commercial advice to her clients navigating the constantly evolving employment law landscape.
Working closely with several coal mining clients navigating the unique statutory framework of the black coal mining industry, Vanessa regularly advises clients on enterprise bargaining, organisational restructuring and transfer of business implications, industrial relations risk mitigation strategies, the coal long service leave scheme and contractor and labour hire arrangements.
Vanessa also advises clients in a wide range of other industries on complex workplace issues such as the resources, building and construction and education sectors. She has particular experience advising companies on unfair dismissal claims, general protections claims, anti-discrimination and bullying and harassment claims, workplace investigations and disciplinary processes.
